Überstar is a fantasy comedy that explores the strange mechanics of fame and identity by taking the audience where they don’t expect to go.
Richard Sammel plays a variation of himself here. The German-born actor known for his Nazi and psychopathic characters as in Inglorious Basterds, The Strain or OSS 117 Cairo Nest Of Spies is having fun with his own image. He is the « star » with all known excesses – megalomaniacal, contemptuous, manipulative – peppering the onscreen version of himself with all the characteristics of the SS and vampires he embodied in the past.

Überstar est une comédie fantastique qui explore les mécanismes étranges de la célébrité et de l’identité et qui, pour se faire, va dérouter le spectateur en l’emmenant là où il ne s’attend pas.
Richard Sammel joue ici son propre rôle. L’acteur allemand, connu pour ses personnages de nazis et de psychopathes dans les séries Un village français et The Strain ou les films OSS 117 Le Caire nid d’espions et Inglourious Basterds, s’amuse précisément de son image et pousse le curseur un peu plus loin. Il est la « star » dans tous ses excès, mégalomane, méprisant, manipulateur… et apporte avec lui les caractéristiques des SS et des vampires qu’il a pu incarner dans le passé.
